Your role in a sentence?

I assist senior designers by creating designs, streamlining workflow, contributing fresh ideas and specialising in bulk asset creation and motion graphics.

Favourite part of your role?

My favourite part of my role is the people I work with and the dynamism of jumping between different projects.

Your journey so far?

After graduating with a first class honours degree in Graphic Design, combining skills in 3D, video editing, digital design and experience working in teams, I gained valuable experience creating assets for print and digital displays during a year-long internship within the university’s marketing team, working under the guidance of the senior designer. I was taken on full-time after the internship and continued to develop my skills until I felt I needed a new challenge.

After looking for a new role, I discovered RocketMill and the more I read about them during the interview process, the more I was certain I wanted the job. Now, just over a year into my role here, I have found the areas of creative I want to move forward in (motion graphics, 3D and batch asset creation). I feel that specialising in these disciplines can add the most value to the team and create the most impactful work.

Best project to date?

My favourite project to date was a pro-bono project with The Male Survivors Partnership, a 60 second video aiming to raise awareness of their important cause. This was a brilliant first client project for me to lead on together with another Junior Graphic Designer, getting experience driving a brief from start to finish. We created several ideas and worked with our Creative Directors to hone it to its final execution. It was invaluable to gain experience managing the project from initial briefing through to production and I’m really proud to see the video out in the world.

Advice for someone looking to start in creative?

My advice when starting a career in Graphic Design would be to absorb as much as you can from the experienced designers around you. Being organised and able to manage your workload is also essential, as we are always working on multiple projects simultaneously. I would also say it’s key to always be creating in areas that interest you outside of work, it may be tricky to keep this up, but it’s important to have your own design passions and specialisms.

Best thing about working at RocketMill?

The people at RocketMill are genuinely the best thing about it. I love everyone I work with and that makes me want to do my best work.

Life outside of RocketMill?

Currently, outside of work, running has taken over my spare time, along with walks, charity shop/car boot hunting, reading, gaming and spending time with family and friends.
