Codebar is coming to RocketMill

Now that we’re settled into the lovely seaside surroundings of our new office in Brighton, it’s time to dive head-first into the vibrant digital community that this city so effortlessly nurtures. We thought we’d begin our quest to meet fellow Brighton tech-heads by teaming up with the wonderful Codebar.

Helping the local community learn

Codebar is a nationwide non-profit initiative providing learning to underrepresented groups who are looking to expand their career opportunities, or just learn a new skill.

Free technical tutorials involving HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ruby, Python and PHP are available for students to dive into, and are accompanied by a selection of voluntary and industry-experienced coaches, who are on hand to keep the student’s self-development on track should help be required. Coaches represent a wide range of industries in sectors such as marketing, digital media, user experience, website/app design and more.

The Codebar scheme is well established in Brighton, and is hosted in different industry locations every Tuesday for Brighton student’s and coaches to experience and explore.

Pizza and pixels at the RocketMill offices

On Tuesday 19th July, it’s our turn to host Codebar. Our office doors will be open for all eager student and coaches between 18:30 and 21:00, and we’ll have pizza and drinks to keep everyone fuelled up for the learning ahead. It will also be an opportunity to see how we work at RocketMill, and may be a chance for any budding digital marketers to see what we look for when we’re in need of new talent to join our diverse team.

Myself, Adam, Bertram and Alex will be representing RocketMill (along with others), so be sure to come and say hello to one (or all!) of us when you arrive.

If you’re interested in attending as a student or coach at this event, please sign up through the Codebar site.

See you all on the 19th!
