With most new browsers supporting at least some of the new HTML5 and CSS3 features, WC3 have released a logo for webdesigners to display on their HTML5 websites. A sort of bragging badge to show the world that they are looking to the future, and not to the past (*cough* IE6! *cough*). When this subject came up in the office a college of mine spotted a slight similarity between this logo and what you may find on an autobot.
If you take a trip over to the W3C HTML5 Logo site, you will find a bit more info on the reason behind the logo, the design and the lovely little badge builder 5000, that you can use to create your own logo for your nice and shiny HTML5 projects.
Although its a bit of a vanity thing, I am all for the boasting and bragging of new technology, clean semantic code, and advances in the coding of the web. Hopefully it will spur on designers and coders alike, to push the boundaries of what is achievable on the web. I for one cant wait to get some cutting edge projects out their for the world to see!
As well as the main HTML5 logo, there are a few sub-logos that have been created to show what elements of the new html 5 markup your site is using.
I think all of the new HTML5 logos have been very well designed and the company commissioned to create them (Ocupop design agency) have done a smashing job.
We would love to hear your opinions on the new logo and invite you to leave us a comment.
