Google has just announced a new feature called +1 and according to the search giant +1 button is shorthand for “this is pretty cool” or “you should check this out.”

Google’s latest feature is nothing but a direct competition to Facebook’s Like feature, at the moment there isn’t much information available on the public domain about +1 button but something tells me this will be prone to abuse given its public nature because by clicking +1 you are publicly giving something your stamp of approval. Your +1’s can help friends, contacts, and others netizens find the best stuff when they search. +1’s are public. They can appear in Google search results, on advertisements as well as others sites on the web.

Here is an official Google video introducing +1 Button.
