So soon after celebrating Jules Verne’s birthday, Google has their latest doodle of the day celebrating the 164th birthday of the prolific inventor Thomas Edison. Thomas Alva Edison was born on the 11th of February in 1847.
In typical Google fashion they have designed their logo based on some of Edison’s greatest achievements such as the light bulb and the phonograph (an early type of record player). The picture itself is animated with the light bulb glowing and different mechanical parts moving.

In my opinion it almost looks like a Da Vinci-esque blueprint with the mixture of soft and hard outlines with the sepia-paper like effect and rough edging.
If the American scientist and businessman were alive today I’m not too sure what he would make of these energy saving light bulbs and the mp3 player – But without Edison and his teams of research and development and their processes of invention, we might not have seen these products for a good while yet.
