If you are a SEO then you are probably familiar with Google’s Advanced Operators for Web Search, advanced operators are to SEOs what Katana is to a Samurai. Most spammers use advanced search operators to find target sites with specific foot prints in order to build spammy links.
Here are some typical operators they would use:
- site:.edu “foot print”
- site:.com “footprint” intitle:”keyword”
- inurl:”keyword” site:.co.uk “footprint”
Below are some of the footprints that they would normally looks for:
Blogging and CMS Software
- Nucleus CMS
- Newtelligence “dasBlog”
- Serendipity / S9Y
- Ez Publish
- Php Fusion
- XMB Forums
- UBB Threads
Disclaimer: I don’t advocate or recommend using these link building techniques. Yes they work in certain cases but this is not a long term strategy and certainly not the proper way of building links.
